Excessive laptop usage may reduce man’s fertility

Excessive usage of laptop may impact on man’s ability to become father is found in new studies. In today’s modern era laptop is becoming increasingly popular among young people. Many company provide laptops to their employs so they can work anywhere without using desktop computers. More over these can also provide many other facilities to representatives of any company while they are traveling around the globe.


“Laptops are becoming increasingly common among young men wired into to the latest technology. However, the heat generated from laptops can impact sperm production and development making it difficult to conceive down the road,” said Dr. Suzanne Kavic, MD, director of the division of reproductive endocrinology.

Businessmen and teenage boys could be risking their fertility by using laptop computers, research suggested. The combination of heat generated by the computers & the posture needed to balance the equipment on the lap leads to raised temperatures around the scrotum, a study found Heat generated by the use of laptop computers might affect men's fertility.

Using laptops for one hour increased the temperatures of men's scrotum by about 5 degrees, according to a study. Earlier studies found that raising scrotal temperatures by more than 2 degrees can decrease the number and quality of sperm, which in turn can reduce fertility. Other tips to protect male fertility include, refraining from smoking, avoiding drugs & excessive alcohol use, minimizing exposure to toxins, avoiding excessive weight gain or weight loss & practicing stress reduction techniques.
