How to take care of your cracked heels?

Exposing feet having cracked heels which look ugly, is very embarrassing. Not only cracked heels look ugly but also are painful & even lead to bleeding skin. Many factors that can lead to cracked heels like dry skin, dehydration, lack of nutrients diet & even lack of basic foot care. Here are explained some useful tips that will prove helpful for you to deal with cracked heels.

Wash your feet : As soon as you come home from outside. Use an anti-bacterial soap and scrub with a loofah for the same purpose. Afterwards dry your feet well, especially between the toes. Always remember leftover moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria, which causes odour, so dry your feet properly with clean towel.

Massaging the feet : Massage your feet wit foot cream and not with lotions, because cream has more percentage of nourishing oil. Applying a light moisturizer at least 2-3 times a day keeps the skin supple and soft. You can also use coconut oil or Castor oil for same purpose before going to sleep. You can also apply a foot cream at night and then wear socks on to keep your feet and heels healthy & well moisturized. Applying glycerin also helps in softening the cracked heels. Similarly, Vaseline and petroleum jelly are also beneficial.

Scrubbing & exfoliating : It helps your skin to get rid of dry & dead skin is effective in naturally treating cracked heels. You can first soak your feet in lukewarm water for a few minutes and then scrub your feet. Applying a home made mixture of papaya & lemon juice on the affected area can also help in naturally dealing with the problem of cracked heels.

Always wear your size : Tight shoes make your feet sweat more than normal. Be certain that what you wearing are neither over-sized nor under-sized. If you choose to wear closed shoes, apply some talcum before putting them. This will keep your feet dry. Also Sun your shoes to keep them bacteria-free.

Drink plenty of water : Drinking plenty of water keeps yourself well hydrated, by drinking adequate water it helps in naturally keeping your skin moisturized & healthy. Drinking plenty of water also helps to throw out toxins from your body. Similarly, you require a well balanced and a nutritious diet for healthy skin.
