Useful ways to protect you vision

There are many ways by which you can protect your vision. You should wash your eyes daily with water when you wale up from the bed. Sprinkle your eyes with water two or three times a day. Eat green vegetables & drink juices of fruits. Here are explained some useful tips which can help you to protect your eyes.

1. Always eat dark & leafy greens : Many dark & leafy green like spinach, kale, collard greens & other deep-colored vegetables contain lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids that have been associated with reducing the risk of developing cataracts & macular degeneration. Try to eat two servings a day. You should eat a handful of spinach in your salad at lunch & a side of broccoli at dinner.

2. Antioxidants protect your vision : many food such as foods such as berries, oranges, plums & cherries help minimize free-radical damage. This damage is caused by environmental factors like sunlight & pollution. These factors can quicken the hardening of lenses & contribute to cataracts & macular degeneration. Eat at least two servings of antioxidants a day. You can eat a cup of blueberries with your breakfast & an orange as an afternoon snack.

3. Always take multivitamins : Supplements with antioxidant vitamins C & E, beta-carotene & the minerals copper & zinc slowed the progression of advanced macular degeneration in high-risk patient. Vitamins B6 & B12 & folic acid may also help. Still other studies suggest that vitamins may delay the onset of cataracts. Taking a multivitamin with minerals every day, could be good preventative step.

4. Omega-3 fatty acids can protect your vision : Omega-3 fatty acids are well known for protecting your heart. But new evidences suggests that omegs-3 fatty acids found in certain fish, such as salmon, halibut & tuna, can help maintain the eyes, protective tear film, minimize dry eyes & even prevent cataracts. Eat two to three servings a week, or consider taking a fish-oil supplement every day. A recent study showed that high consumption of red meat may increase the risk of macular degeneration.

5. Consuming carrot good for vision : These crisp vegetables, as well as other orange offerings, like pumpkin & butternut squash, contain beta-carotene, a carotenoid that may help keep eyes healthy. You can drink fresh carrot juice early in the morning empty stomach. It provides good protection to your eyes & increases the vision quality of your eyes.

6. Wear sunglasses with dark lenses : UV light is a major player in the hardening of the lenses and the development of cataracts and macular degeneration. It’s important to wear sunglasses with dark lenses that filter out 100 % of UV rays & its label should indicate this. Always wear sunglasses whenever you’re outside.

7. Elevate your heart rate : Some studies have indicated that aerobic exercise can decrease the pressure inside the eyes. Exercise help to reduce the risk for glaucoma. Aim for three 30-minute workouts a week which includes, walking, jogging, using a cardio machine, or taking a class at the gym. These exercises are helpful to elevate your heart rate.
